چکیده
A geophysical study was conducted for the El-Akader landfill to determine its impact on groundwater, which is located along northern road of Jaber International Road, north Jordan, covers an area 0.806km2. it commissioned in 1981 be only municipal at Jordan and considered second-largest country. geoelectrical survey using Vertical Electrical Sounding electromagnetic Transit Electromagnetic. Upon analyzing 42 TEM loops performing cross-sections, leachate found concentrated below dumping site surroundings would infiltrate down about 200 m land surface. The results revealed that depth groundwater around 300 with a resistivity less than 5-ohm.m. It also indicates moving mainly vertically, confirms results. Contaminants are detected water samples collected from several nearby wells horizontal movement have been penetrated through inferred faults deep fractures area.

Impact of a domestic wastewater treatment plant on groundwater pollution, north Jordan
An assessment of groundwater pollution in the area surrounding a domestic wastewater treatment plant in northern Jordan has been carried out. Groundwater in the study area is classified as alkaline earth water with increased portions of alkalis and prevailing chloride, tending to shift to alkaline water with the dominance of chloride. This trend indicates mixing between the two end members of f...
متن کاملLeachate Characterization and Surface Groundwater Pollution at Municipal Solid Waste Landfill of Gohagoda, Sri Lanka
As a developing country, protecting groundwater resources is extremely essential in Sri Lanka. Landfills are one of the main sources of water pollution. The filling of the Gohagoda disposal yard, takes place at a distance about 50m from Gohagoda water intake plant. In addition, there is several boreholes located close proximity of the landfill, which used for drinking and domestic purposes. A s...
متن کاملUse of the landfill water pollution index (LWPI) for groundwater quality assessment near the landfill sites
The purpose of the paper is to assess the groundwater quality near the landfill sites using landfill water pollution index (LWPI). In order to investigate the scale of groundwater contamination, three landfills (E, H and S) in different stages of their operation were taken into analysis. Samples of groundwater in the vicinity of studied landfills were collected four times each year in the perio...
متن کاملGroundwater Pollution by Municipal Solid Waste Landfill Leachate: A Case Study of Okhla Landfill Delhi
The large number of municipal solid waste (MSW) landfills and the many hazardous materials which they contain pose a serious threat to both surrounding environment and human populations. Once waste is deposited at the landfill, pollution can arise from the percolation of leachate to the porous ground surface. Contamination of groundwater by such leachate renders it and the associated aquifer un...
